Interesting. Remember all the retailer downgrades this week? Electronics Retailers staged their own Burst Rally. For Best Buy, it meant a 12 point move from yesterdays low to high. CC did much the same.

So not only are we getting burst rallies in the markets, but we need to give more attention to sectors. . .watching for signs of deep selloffs which set-up burst moves. We'll call that 'Priming the Burst'.

Still awaiting jobless report.

Rande,
Finally got around to making portfolios for long-term calls and for the micro/ smallcaps ( mixed bag of the little guys). Let me just say that these ports are made to help analyse trends, spot sector moves, etc ( actually, they may not help too much); they are not intended to show that Rande made this portfolio and he is up whatever percentage for the year...

It all starts with your post on December 23rd, 2000:

"Tech Stocks ON SALE today" ( for anyone who follows the thread, they should know that you do NOT use capitalized letters too often- so, extra emphasis/pounding)http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=15071024

You have even stated that you believe we have been in a bull run since Dec 21st ( leave out jan 2 and 3):
Message 15131043

Now, you have said to PROFITOFTEN...

Message 15090774

siliconinvestor.com.

Message 15116834

Message 15125259

Message 15121948

Message 15121901

BUT, these were done on swing trades and not included on long-termers portfolio.
You stuck to the long-termers...
Message 15117443

So, here is a long-term portfolio,TechsONSALEDec2000
( had someone bought and held from the post):
siliconinvestor.com

...and a small and microcap portfolio ( bought and held from posts discussing small and micros-see below for how I put this together):
siliconinvestor.com

Now, you have profitoften from smallcaps so this portfolio is more for charting changes/analysing trends in small/micros:
siliconinvestor.com.
-----------------------
My reasoning:
On Dec 22nd, "Tech stocks on Sale" POST 43986
Holidility confirmed POST 44001
Dec 23rd Looking ahead/Holidility POST 44060

All along though you are not so committed to going long, still swing-trades, etc. watch for sign of momentum, etc.

Dec 26th
POST 44080 start giving names of "holidility" issues...
Post 44100 holidility strong...give more stocks to watch

Dec 27th
Post 44126 watch the two lists mentioned yesterday
Post 44175 List of Holidility and others...watch for momo...

Dec 28th
Post 44257 More small/micros...but PROFITOFTEN!

Dec 29th The turnaround! New Millenium Post 44380 calling for burst...

Jan 2nd, 2001
POST 44621 Burst confirmed...start trading!
Post 44499/44601/ 44623/44634/44645 give additional names/trades

--------------------
I didn't even get to the web hosts ( EQIX, ISLD, NAVI, etc) or internet advertisers ( DCLK, TFSM,etc) or the addition of internuts ( EBAY,etc.)...

Looking forward to a day when we can put all ports together and be able to analyze trends more easily.
AJ

And, remember this for all hypothetical portfolios...(quote from Rande)
"NOTE: All portfolios are designed for educational and entertainment purposes and I take no responsibility for the performance of this or any of my portfolios. Do your own due diligence, make up your own mind, make your own trades and take responsibility for them"
