Re: "I am still nervous about the rolling strategy given I am praying INTC will get into an uptrend here after the fallout from Q1 conference call. I think INTC has more likelihood of trading over 40 by february expiration than it does over 37.5 by January"

Of course we all want our short option positions to expire worthless. The rolling technic is only used when you are in danger of being assigned.

!!!!!! ALERT !!!!!!! FED JUST CUT ANOTHER .25% !!!!!!

Aloha HTH, Re : "If the stock does take off I will have to re-evaluate the rollout strategy in the short-term."

Be careful about waiting too close to the expiry date before rolling it over. There is a chance you might get called a little earlier than expiry date.

If you are really worried about being called away, have you considered writing calls further out of the money at a later date ? You may get less premium, but you can roll-in your money a little but, if the stock tanks and you need more cash. For example,
say July 50 ($2 premium). The price is not going to vary much until Intel reaches $45 or so. And if reaches $45 by Feb, you can buy it back for, maybe $3.5.

But like any investment, there is always a risk with any covered calls too!
