GZ, I don't have an opinion on Federal Reserve. I don't have any hard feelings towards Mr. Greenspan. As you say, he is powerful but he's not as powerful as The Supreme Court, and I do have negative feelings about The Supreme Court's power. I'd like to see a few of its members impeached.

<<I think Greenspan should be removed... in fact, the whole Federal Reserve Act should be repealed... no single individual should have that much power over 'free' markets... if he had left things the way they were over the past 18 months, he wouldn't have to lower rates 3/4 points within a 24 hour period... he's too heavy handed and he ought to go away.....>>

Very good! You're on the right track, but perhaps need to look at your outcome again. While I don't agree with a direct Democracy in electing the Chairman of the Federal Reserve (or President for that matter), this MOST key position must be far more responsible to the voting population.

Greenspan is not the problem, it is the manner this position if filled & from which ranks. Is it really right only a Banker is "qualified" for the most powerful job in the land? We of these United States have always held most dear the concept of citizen rule, not that there should be a separate ruling banker class.
