Your observation is similar to mine, but I was more focused on the size of the company. Many of the micro caps that I follow had what I would consider normal volatility both up and down. Big players do not bother with these and there will not be anything on the news about them. What I expect the news to say is that there was a little profit taking but things were basically stable. Nice huh?

When Zeev says "maybe they plan to paint it differently than I thought." I pause to reflect just who "they" are and what color the paint will be.

My question is this: Who was selling all those large caps in a such a disciplined fashion? Was it the folks who bought them a few days ago for 10% less? Or was this a meta "distribution"?

I'm a relative newbie to short term trading so maybe I'm just having a perspective problem.
