Crossbows <heavy sigh> those are sooo sweet!

Had a friend of mine who went out and bought a "ballista" back in the '80s. It shot regular size arrows using tensioned coils of various strength... Really incredible weapon that could "reach out and touch someone" at very long range and with incredible accuracy.

However, I've been searching the net for the past 1/2 hour trying to find out if they are still being sold and I can't find any references. I would imagine they were never legalized for hunting purposes due to their advantage over regular bows and crossbows.
