P.M. I also like the Sprint news. This is a similar development as the alliance between Palm and NTT DoCoMo to provide web access for Palm.

This is a major development in the US. It shows that phone carriers are starting to abandon the failed model of WAP. Most carriers are still struggling to provide some sort of pseudo web access thro' WAP on some WAP phones. But users just stop using the WAP access features after a few tries because it's so slow, so cubersome to use and so un-enjoyable. If people don't use the WAP, then the phone companies won't make any money out of content.

Sprint's determination to go with Palm is a seal of approval and a victory round of Palm over WAP. All the pieces seem to be falling together now as far as carrier access is concerned.

Sprint is also a good friend of 3com. It's using coms' IWF for wireless data.

In the US - Sprint
In Japan - DoCoMo
needs another in Europe and one in Canada
