Scumbria, <This thread is in serious denial about P4.>

I don't know about you, but I've seen a lot more rationality on this thread than on the AMD threads. I think less people are in denial about P4 than you think.

<It isn't selling. As a matter of fact, PIII and Celeron aren't selling very well either.>

Uh huh. Wanna know why the 800 MHz Celeron is priced the same as a 1 GHz Athlon? Because Intel can sell it at that price, despite the big performance difference. It's not like there's a short supply of them, either, nor is it too hard for Intel to crank out 800 MHz processors these days.

<I'm guessing that we are going to hear some very good news from AMD soon.>

Like what? More price cuts? Takeover of Transmeta (after selling Flash)?

SCUMbria - Re: "I'm going to pick up some AMD options."

May I suggest Jan 2001 $50 Calls ?

Load up on them - I'm sure you need more than you already have.

Paul

Scumbria,

You are probably right about P4 and P3 and Celeron, and I suspect you could add that Xeon is below expectations. Notebook chips are probably doing OK.

But my guess is that AMD chips are seeing the same demand slowdown. By what logic would you assume that a slowdown in consumer PC demand wouldn't effect AMD? The AMD stock action isn't special, considering how the stock has been crushed.

I would wait and see on those calls. It wasn't too long ago that the folks on the AMD thread were saying that Intel would warn, but AMD wouldn't. Now you are saying that Intel's sales are lousy but AMD's are OK. Sounds like a similar delusion.
