Report: Microsoft to Demonstrate Xbox Gaming System

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Software giant Microsoft Corp. (NasdaqNM:MSFT - news) will
unveil the first demonstration of its new Xbox video-game console's technology on Saturday
at a Las Vegas electronics conference, the Wall Street Journal reported in its online edition
on Friday.

The company's founder and chairman, Bill Gates (news - web sites), would demonstrate
the first mock-up of the system, due out next fall, at the Consumer Electronic Show, the
paper said.

Microsoft also would formally announce the arrival of satellite-based interactive-television
service Ultimate TV, the paper said.

The Ultimate TV devices, which are being offered in conjunction with DirecTV, were
scheduled to be ready before Christmas but were now expected to be shipped on a limited
basis this month and for wide availability in February, the paper said.

Microsoft has said the Xbox will be the most powerful console on the market, with an Intel Corp (NasdaqNM:INTC - news)
processor, a hard drive and a built-in modem for high-speed Internet access.

The Redmond, Wash.-based company seeks to steal market share from Japanese electronics giant Sony Corp (6758.T), which
produces the popular Playstation and Playstation 2 gaming machines.

Microsoft shares closed up at $48-7/16 in Thursday trading, well below a 52-week high of $118-? and above a yearly low of
$40-1/4.
