Worth of Music in Pocket-Size Player

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 2001--

Hy-Tek Manufacturing Offering Revolutionary Device for OEM Partnership

The TREO, a new high capacity Digital Music Jukebox designed and
priced for the consumer marketplace, is being introduced tomorrow at
CES (booth 6643, North Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center) by Hy-Tek
Manufacturing Co., Inc. of Sugar Grove, Illinois.
Drawing raves when previewed at COMDEX in November, Hy-Tek's new
TREO (www.treoplayer.com) stores and plays up to 150 music CDs. Its
numerous advantages over competitive players include storing more than
100 hours of music in a pocket-sized player, multiple codec support,
and a removable Li-Ion battery pack, which provides more than 8 hours
of continuous playback before recharging.
In presenting TREO for its industry debut at CES, John Bastian,
president of Hy-Tek, said he is also offering OEM partners the new
product he called "a breakthrough by all parameters and measures."
TREO has everything to be one of the great consumer electronics
products of the year," said Bastian, noting "its almost unlimited
financial potential in a marketplace for MP3 players forecasted by IDC
to be nearly 7 million units by 2003. This core technology can be
utilized by any OEM seeking fast entry into the portable Jukebox
market," Bastian said.
Superb Sound Quality, Unmatched Price/Performance
"TREO's digital stereo sound quality is superb, clearly rivaling
any player in the market," Bastian said, "and its incredibly small
size makes it convenient to take an entire music collection anywhere,
delivering unmatched price/performance. TREO provides easy storing of
music from original CDs or Internet downloads, rising above
competitors with incredible sound in a pocket-sized player.
"The TREO brings reality to portable players, including huge
capacity, true pocket-size portability and long playback time,"
Bastian said. "Not only is the TREO a great performer, it absolutely
blows away the competition in terms of price/performance," Bastian
noted. "With its $399 price tag and capacity of 100 hours, it offers
music storage at 1/20 the cost of flash-based players."
Technical features of the TREO include: multiple codecs including
MP3, WMA, AAC and ePAC are supported by the unit. An integrated
graphic equalizer allows the user to set tone quality to their
particular taste. Its flexible, MicroOS(TM) core technology from
e.Digital Corporation (OTC:EDIG) provides the basis for this new entry
into the high capacity portable player market.
