Contrary to me, most folks I know that graduated last year prefer to download to an MP3 player so they may carry their music wherever they go. (I seem to be always working at my desk, so maybe that's why I don't quite have this need for portable music).

I'm like you...I listen to music directly from the net but its not only I don't have the time to download, but rather its not the way I want to spend my free time. BTW my nephew (who's 13 and thinks he's da man) gets into downloading big time.

I also keep at my desk the CD's I am liking the best at any given time.

The other evening, around 7 pm, we tuned into some Internet music and were "jamming it" at work, which was a lot of fun. I work with a fun group. Our marcom manager is always up on the latest and one of our engineers is always up on the latest media. We're able to bring our network to its knees. Probably time to upgrade it.

Its always good when you have a techie taking care of that kind of stuff.

Going back to Intel's appliance/player...I can't remember what they call it....its one of those you can't win for trying. For months now the media has been saying that Intel's core business is slowing and in it needs to diversify while maintaining a solid handle on that core business. Well, they announce this new devise for which, of course, they will provide the flash and that same media is now worried that this new Intel direction is too extreme. I guess when you are out of favor (meaning the semis), you can't do anything right.
