OT,

I thought "electric power de-regulations will make power generators compete to benefit consumers". Now. They compete to increase rates for consumers because Cal. does not have enough "power". A good example of "supply vs. demand". Well. Another sucker example for consumers.

What are the results from Telcomm. Act of 1996? Or Cable deregulations?

Jon...how is Not wanting to see a power plant in one's back yard greedy....
These Bright Thinkers wanted to build a Nuc. Plant right on top of the San Andreas Fault ( within 30 miles of the 06 rupture site) at Bodega Bay..( of 'The Birds' fame)years back.......
Additionally....."In my front yard"
PGE was 'kind enough' to replace a moderate sized power pole on the property line of our lot with a considerably larger version.....no real problem there......Until they insisted in sinking an anchor bolt right in our front park way on top of my Gal's Japanese Irises.. with a nice thick steel cable to hold the tension so's the folks down the street can power 'Up'...they told me to plant a vine on it if I did not like the view out Our front window....
I doubt the Bigs at PG&E have a 'new' view like I do......odd is it Not........

Tim

The utilities in CA got the deregulation they asked for, the CA Legislature adoped the bill the utilities wrote themselves "ver batim"...they bet on lower fuel
acquisition costs and lost...the utilities would not have shared the gains from the lower costs with consumers, so consumers should not have to bail out the
utilities from their own bad bet. It's a "tails we win, heads you lose" coin the utilities are trying to have. I say let them go bankrupt, a Receiver can operate the
utilities as well as the clowns who do now, and many well capitalized buyers will show up to buy the utilities out of bankruptcy. PG&E and SC Edison got what
they asked for, now their Board of Directors should be made accountable and their shareholders made to suffer for their actions.
