WD-40 would be my choice with the hairspray second ....

as I don't have ANY hair, when I need some hairspray, I borrow from my wife ... but then, she doesn't have much WD-40, so she borrows that from me ...... LOL

good luck to you cause you came to the right place on this thread to get some answers ...

i once had very similar concerns as you about what to use to clean my monitor screens. i called dell support and the tech just about acted like i was nuts. <g> essentially, he said, just clean it. i'd question him about coatings and special care and all that stuff and he'd say, just clean it.

so that's what i do.

but just to keep a small amount of science involved <g> i use an ammonia free glass cleaner called Sprayway. it's good for leaving no film.

standard disclaimer. this may not work for you. works great for me.

i love nemer's tips on wd-40

good luck

[edit in: i posted this, then saw mag's reply regarding dell's 'official' recommendation. pretty similar to what they told me! <g>]

:)
