Grace,

I was reading last night that the condition of the warrants called for six month prior notification by C or CC. Further it seemed to state that the notification had to occur on December 4 or June 4. If I read that correctly, since no notification was given in Dec., then no warrants will be cashed in until at least Dec. 4, 2001 pending a possible June 4 notification of intent to do so by the MSO's. IF [big conditional statement follows!] this is the case, could you imagine ATHM accelerating in share price appreciation due to Radio Shack promotions with other retailers, gaining RR subs at some point, the new subs from the new MSO contract and critical mass in general, etc., and the whole point becoming mute or at least much less of an issue? Sung to the tune of 'Dream Weaver'...

Any thoughts on your interpretation?

It is nice to see ATHM holding ground in the nas flush.

What do you think of T trading off cable subs to C&C in exchange for those puts they gave to them?

The topic certainly is in the air:

Cox, Comcast may sell Excite@Home stakes

To sell, or not to sell. That is the question.

Grace, I have no knowledge of ATHM's ability to secure a private placement nor have I ever mentioned same. You must be thinking of someone else.

As to T's attempt to save cash, I don't think it has any near term impact on ATHM. However, from ATHM's point of view, it might act as a hook to keep C & C more securely in the ATHM camp after the exclusive runs out. I don't see any ATHM negatives from a cable stock deal. None.

While much of the talk I've read about ATHM's exclusive cable deals has been of the "Golly, gee, what will ATHM do after June, 2002?" variety, it's my strong belief that ATHM stands to gain more than it could lose. How so? In a non-exclusive environment ATHM can offer wireless broadband access in the entire country. Unfortunately, for now that is not possible due to contractual restrictions with their cable partners. While I'm not sure exactly how wireless @Home would work, is it possible that they could keep the entire $40 per month instead of the puny 35% they currently get? It's something to think about.
