thanks for the nice compliment...i actually always thought that Greenspan KNOWS very well what is happening. he may have a contingency plan ready to swing into action once the fiat bubble has imploded. he privately told Larry Parks once that he had to defer to his many fellow FOMC board members that were disagreeing with his early misgivings about the bubble (remember, as recently as '94, the FOMC minutes reveal they tried to STOP the bubble from forming, an effort that was later replaced with benign neglect). when confronted with "but you know where all of this will end" he walked away, not saying anything. his conversion to new era thinking is a very recent development, and coincided with the speculative blow-off in the NAZ. that is the nature of manias, even the most sober people who should know better get caught up in the euphoria. and yes, he should have read the thread. he wouldn't have liked all the criticism leveled at him, but his sense of history may well have told him that the tiny minority doubting the new era/productivity mirage was probably correct.
