You ever hear the old saw that if I owe you a thousand dollars it's my problem, if I owe you $100 million it's your problem? Exactly why the small investors get screwed. Their margins are small and easily redeemable by the broker selling off your stock before your assetts go to zero. The problem is that if the Fed had let LTC go bust, it could have had far reaching effects on the financial system So they averted a short term problem, But how do you know that they didnt cause those problems in the long term?? And in any case if they help LTC and dont help me, they are ASSHOLES in my book speically since I lost a bundle on my Shorts due to their interference with the markets.
