JHP:

I would be the last to suggest that it is a paradise down there (I have spent plenty of time talking to S. American "ham" operators about conditions down there), but any of us could make a very long list of countries on this planet where things are in equally distasteful shape and where gold is currently being mined. Just as one example, read a few issues of any newspaper emanating from S. Africa

The other consequential item of note for me is that the Columbian government would love to see this project move into production as it would provide alternative employment,..... an alternative to feeding one's kids via toting a rifle in the jungle.

Take a look at how much American aid is flowing into that country at the moment (it's huge). While much of that aid is military, the U.S. government is well aware of how much good would result if this project comes to fruition.

Don't get me wrong,...... this stock is down at these distress levels precisely as a result of the fact that the Columbian scene is not pristene. Be that as it may, gold is going to have its day and large proven deposits are not going to remain unexploited. Accommodations can always be made when there is a large pot to be divided up.

Incidentally, one of the company's execs was taken for ransom a couple of years ago. While he was not mistreated, he isn't a fan of the country.

Best, Earlie
