Yes, I have a chart. Take a look at the summer of 1996 or
whenever that downdraft came. It wasn't 50% but it wasn't
far off. Were you in then? Were you shaken out?

Where do you get 'no particular prospects' from? I
see nothing *but prospects. The venture funds are flush.
There's a whole *bunch of cash that's piling up out there
wanting back into US equities and then, into the highest
quality US Equities.

PCs tanked. We knew that was coming. dot coms hosed. We
knew most of those were tenuous. I didn't buy any. Most of
us didn't, prefering balance sheets to burn rates, thanks.
Most importantly Sun Microsystems saw those things coming
before we did and they've been planning into that future.
The future is now.

What's changed with the SUNW story, Qwiksand?

Why is the market suddenly efficient when it's tanked?

You know what I think? I think the nuns whacked you one too
many times. <g>

Look at the period starting around Aug. 20, 1997. Not that it's identical to what is happening now, but it was pretty darn traumatic at the time. As I recall, many then said Sun's best days were past and we would never regain the old highs (which at that time was about 6.7 on Aug. 20 in split adjusted terms; it dropped below 4 on Nov. 12).

I really think you're overdoing the hand wringing.

JMHO.
