Business Week apologizes for lifting material from the Washington Post.

In our issue of Oct. 30, 2000, we ran an article called ''Surf at your own risk'' (page 143). It described how a Boston-based company, Pharmatrak Inc., surreptitiously tracked computer users who visited the Web sites of 11 pharmaceutical companies. Unfortunately, the article used information and wording without attribution from a similar story that ran earlier in The Washington Post. We deeply regret this incident. We apologize to our readers and to The Washington Post for this breach of journalistic standards.

Rick, perhaps you will address the difference between ^BTK and ^DRG.

"Teach him what ^BTK is, that it's an average of mostly OPERATIONAL companies, not research boutiques. These companies produce DRUGS, and are therefore relatively recession-strong."

It's my impression that the big OPERATIONAL companies are in the ^DRG, e.g., MRK, LLY, JNJ, PFE, etc. I thought the ^BTK stocks are the RESEARCH-heavy group, e.g., SEPR et al. AMGN is the only company that the two indices have in common.
