Interest in Warm Colors Will Heat Up, While Demand for Quality Will Continue

The icy shades of colored gemstones that were selling in years past are melting into warm colors,
such as citrine, amber and mandarin garnet, in 2001, color-watchers said.
"In general, the warming trend will continue,"said Elizabeth Florence, director of the
Jewelry Information Center in New York. In addition to colored gemstones settled in yellow
and rose gold, the warm-colored stones are also roosting in platinum, with the warm tones
providing a cool contrast.
The fashion runways emphasized texture this year, Florence said. For example,
at a Calvin Klein show, models were striding across the runways in textured leather
pants and metallic clothing. Colored gemstone translation? There will be interest in
shimmery gemstones, such as opals and abalone as well as mother-of-pearl pieces,
Florence predicted.

WRONG. Just like you were wrong the last time when you said the market wouldn't respond to his cuts.
