I don't expect rhat to die. I don't expect rhat to make much money. I do believe you don't understand SGI and their use of Linux as an effective leverage for the sale of their scalable big computing solutions. In developing application the cost is in the custom software and that cost is in man hours of expensive labor. Linux that runs development seemlessly accross intel linux and mips greatly reduces the labor cost as engineer like me who work on stuff like that can expand our hour of playing as all can afford to have a PC at home with an identical personality to the big iron mips machines back at the office. Also in many companies the lower cost and performance of intel linux pc's opens the door to many more entry level customers.
