If you are speaking of O.J. based on what I have seen of him I would say he tends toward the hyperactive hyperbolic side.

I seriously doubt he thinks he is better than Tom Dorsey. If he does, he needs to be taken down a notch or two.

Also, Jan is another leader in the P&F field on SI as well as Jorj X McKie.

<<But why charge if the pleasure is in sharing the knowledge>>

Why not? What, you want everything for free?

<<Sure there are lots of people offering lessons in these type of things, but no one is under the illusion that the teachers are "the best" in their field>>

There is always a "best". Don't kid yourself. Teaching is an art. It involves not only imparting facts, but inspiring, encouraging, and motivating the student to excel and to change his behavior. Good teaching reaches the heart. Not many "teachers" do this. I was fortunate enough to have had my father as my teacher as I was learning my trade, and he did all these things for me. In fact, people still seek him out at age 76 because he is a great teacher.

<<Most of the gurus who market on SI have moderated threads and yeild a quick finger on the switch>>

I have noticed you have a pretty quick finger yourself, don't you?

In your introduction to this thread, you said "I'd like to hear from any users of these rooms how they get around the above logic in justifying subscribing" I saw only a few posts from people who actually subscribe to this, the rest are from whiners and complainers who seem only interested in character assination.
After reading most of the posts on this thread, and responding to a few, I have decided that I have completely wasted my time and accomplished nothing useful. This thread seems to me to be a thinly veiled attempt to assassinate other's character, and has given many the opportunity to whine, bellyache, and complain about this or that. Like, who really cares? I am done here. Booorrring.
You can moderate me off if you want, I won't be back anyway.

Harpo
