Developing countries waste energy because underdeveloped IT infrastructure. Look to those megalopolis bursting with traffic. That is lack of IT. One need to -physiacally- go to the bank to pay every bill. Carrying about printouts in hard copies rather than send electronic files wastes fuel. We don't need the media: WE NEED THE MESSAGE! Printing The Economist, putting it in an envelope and sending across the world wastes fuel. Having access to it on line saves a lot. Had ISDN or ADSL not been killed by telcos all over the world, we would have the world of work centered in the home rather than in offices.
