John,
My point was that it is one thing to say "let's ignore GAAP; the real story is the cash flows!" But then when you look at the cash flows and they tell a dire story, you can't do things like say the cash flows are understated due to GAAP writedowns (sic!). You've got nowhere left to hide.

"That way it will be the analysts, touts, market makers and so on who are at fault if you lose money. Self preserving."

John, if we look at human nature we find that people who are given an excuse for failure generally fail. Both bulls and bears can find all the excuses they will ever need to lose all their money.

Now ... you have discussed the dire need of CSCO's share price to rise. Wonder how much of that "MISPLACED CASH" is being used to defend the stock? I have not looked at changes in Treasury Stock and even if there was no change there it could be being accomplished in other ways...off balance sheet so to speak. Have no proof of that ... just thinking out loud.

There has been much discussion in the financial press stating that many many other companies have repurchased their stock at inflated prices at the expense of shareholders.
