First, though, I agree about the frightening amount of weakness the market has seen since Greenspan's gift, particularly the way the market acted yesterday afternoon. Isn't Monday the last of the famed "first five trading days of the year" from which the rest of the year is supposed to follow? Apocryphal though that saying may be, it's going to contribute to the shakiness in investor sentiment, IMO.

I'd taken profits on my NDX puts about midday, but certainly would've reinitiated a small short position over the weekend if I'd watched the close. I see Heinz is calling for a low on Monday or Tuesday. Both Carpino and Hahn are looking for one on the 11th. I'm hoping there's a chance to buy some (incredibly inflated) puts on the SPX, NDX and BTK on Monday morning. If not, I'll be a wallflower during this next leg down. And it sure does look ugly.
