The only reason I am on SI is because of the AskDrBob board here. I followed him here from RB. His is the only board I find to be productive. His technical analysis is geared toward giving the trader the information and letting them do what they will with it....he teaches more than informs.

Each day he provides a technical analysis of the market free of charge. In addition to having done TA for 25 years regularly, he is a practicing psychologist so he is not on the boards during the day except for intraday updates when the market is in flux.

He is planning a class to teach TA in the near future and you can take this class or have private lessons if you prefer. The cost is supposed to be moderate. If the cost is moderate I plan on taking this class to supplement my woefully lacking abilities in TA.

I find paying a moderate one time amount for information that will further my ability to trade better is acceptable. I don't find paying someone $500-600 per month even remotely acceptable. Just following someones picks will never teach me anything other than to follow that person and send my check (or have my credit card charged) every month.

I have invested in books for many years and continue to add and try to learn new techniques .....but I get to keep the books and the knowledge I gain from them........I don't run the risk of loss from listening to someone's picks.

I promise not to monopolize the board from now on. I am just fascinated how many people are willing to pay another amateur for the same information they could find for themselves.

Most of these amateur gurus eventually fall by the wayside, but it is a shame that they take so much from so many before they are exposed.

Ok, now I promise to go back to reading the DrBob board exclusively when SI has its server problems solved.

Great post Tastes Like Chicken!

I've often wondered if [and it would explain a lot] ... if perhaps all posters on SI other than myself were actually just one person who can type really fast and was launched on a determined insidious schizophrenic plot to play with my mind .... even paranoids have enemies.

.

.

parker m. - your first post on SI under this login was on Ed P's momo puppies, i've been trying to figure out who you were before, can't so far, kind of amusing the pursuit ... those grinding on about the Lisa thing did put you over the ... ahem, MG thread on the hot list -g- ... offline six eight hours now ... cheers

ps - CatLady, right on about intelligentspeculator.com, i've lurked it

<<I know more than one day trader that makes that much every week. They have absolutly no interest in 'educating' anyone in how they do it. What possible reason would someone who takes that much dough out of the market every week have in telling anyone how they do it? <G>>>

Not to mention the fact that they probably can't explain what they do in a manner that would enable another person to replicate it. Everyone has a different emotional makeup and risk tolerance. Some of the smartest and most analytical people I know can't pull the trigger. They freeze.
