....I agree that the computer has and will continue to deliver some dramatic boosts to productivity in certain areas.... Mike, this is one of the things that really worries me. In '29, a vast percentage of the economy was safe because the essentials will be consumed no matter what (food, clothing, shelter, etc). Today, I've read that 1 farmer can do what took 17 back in the day. Same for all other industries. The bottom line is that it now takes a much lower percentage of the workforce to provide these "essentials". So WTF happens when things go to shit this time? Not a pleasant site IMVHO.
