Drake, I think you are right. Not bailing them out would be too costly.

Since you know about bonds, is there any way to speculate on bond options....I want to be able to speculate on high yield bonds. Let me know if something like this exists.
TIA.

I also believe the rumors on Friday caused the selloff....everyday the hedge funds that are short are playing this rumor game and are not being punished for it (BAC and Cisco). That is the sad part. The regulators should be pursueing these guys just as they did when the Emulux hoax took place.
Seems like a double standard.

Bailing others out is standard procedure in America.

Banks in 1980
Chrysler
3 mile Island
S&L
Russia
Asia
S.Korea
LTCM

Just add Calif. Utilities.

Besides.... we can pay for it...with the surplus,

TA

Drake,

I respect your opinion, and I fully agree. Until we get there though, it's sorta like a game of chicken right now.

The state not recognizing the severity of the problem and putting the screws to the producers, the producers getting their bonds downgraded yesterday, and that big safety net (that everyone knows is there) called the US TREASURY, waiting in the wings.
