Frank and ftth- While I'm thinking about it, as it relates directly to my last post, here's what I think the FCC should do:

1. Kill the open access ISP battle. If the telco(by telco I mean ILEC/RBOC) or cableco is risking billions(!), then let them have the entire stupid $40/month check subs write for broadband access. Don't force them to give $15 of it to those who don't take the billion dollar risks.

2. Promote the relationship between DBS and telcos. This is the only feasible way for a telco to get into TV to compete with cable.

3. Promote BBFW as a way for either party to attack each other in specific markets.

4. Keep the telco and cableco players WIDE apart. Never let them touch each others plant in any way, shape, or form. Never let them even talk to each other. They have to remain keen competitors. If they can all deliver equally the same services(voice/video/data), then the battle to rollout services will be heated!

In other words focus on promoting competition between the winners in access-HFC and twisted pair. To heck with everything else. These three are the access winners so leave it at that. Don't keep trying to regulate other winners into the picture.

Just thinking aloud. -MikeM(From Florida)
