I agree, K. They have upheld their promise to keep ads off the message pages, after all the beef about the Datek ad. A successful business, particularly one internet-based, demands constant upgrades, and I am happy they have done so.

Hi KLP,

I am thankful for being a life member too..and to be honest I am glad I don't have to see the ad banners.....while I recognize SI needs to make money, I still think having paying customers is the way to go...though I doubt if they are getting a lot of new customers (would be interesting to know just how many new customers a month they are able to get)...

What I really don't understand is why haven't they made SI a subset of a much larger Message board. I think it was Pareto that recommended to the powers that be that they should license their message board technology or create their own additional message boards that will allow users to discuss anything they want in any language they want....

It would be neat to be able to move to other boards (non-finance related) by the click of a button and from a stock holder's point of view, the added exposure to the many people out there that post wouldn't hurt either...

Is there a one-stop shop message board out there today that handles any language, any topic..I mean the user can have the information displayed in his/her language of choice--perhaps even a translation of the text if possible--though that may be difficult it would be neat..???

Anyhow to get back to your original comments...I hope they continue to be profitable (by whatever means necessary) so that we don't have to deal with the ad issue...

regards, have a nice weekend (what's left of it)

Steve

A rather simple idea which I would think is obvious to INSP----everytime someone logs into an INSP supported site---have a link to Silicon Investors.

Also, while Silicon is great for tech/internet stocks then let people know that other stocks get discussed on SI-----i.e. a comprehensive site.

This needs to be put in the title i.e. Silicon Investors Plus-----. Something simple to attract attention if that is what is wanted.

I'm a life member, and feel I have gotten my money's worth, but many of the stocks I have discovered on SI are not doing so well. Frankly I no longer find SI to be the best source of info, but its the only place you don't have to put up with page after page of BS and spam. I've been here so long, I know the personalities and know whose opinion I respect (and whose I don't) It is a shame that SI is not what it used to be. We lost a lot of great posters due to New SI, advertising, feuds, SI Bob, and general BS. Its a shame, and I doubt we will get many of them back; however, we have recently gotten some new folks and if the tech economy turns around, people will once again take interest in our little club. I do agree and have always felt that an easy link and reference to SI should be prominently displayed on all Infospace/GNET pages. Its a shame that it is so damn hard to get here unless you are looking for it.

OT - belive it or not we just had little O's first birthday party. Hard to belive its been a year! Hopefully 2001 will be better for the old college fund.

<<But SI used to charge to post...still not sure what the situation
on that is...(levy, what is it?) I am a Life Member. Are you?>>

KLP, Yes, I am a life time member. (free loader)

Yes, I would pay a substantial fee to have the old SI as is with no adds.

Yes, SI "WAS" a great place. I'm hoping it can reclaim that place....
