yes, but what was the economic backdrop at the time? The reason we are in the mess we are now is because of the fed, the economy had nothing wrong with it at all, till the fed played god. I see no similarities at all between 70's and now


Totally agreed.

As I stated before that Greenspan narrowed missed a major disastor in 1998 and one before that. After he finally lowered the rates, the guy had the audacity of acting like a hero - as if he'd put out the fire and saved the nation from a recession, when in fact he (and his hawkish governors) were the ones that set the fire to begin with.

Sheeesh...
