Not sure why you think the transactions lost money for the other side. I know for a fact that the lady who sold us her house made money, and so did her realtor - don't know if realtor.com made money, that's true. Similarly, I know for a fact that the Land Rover dealer in Durham made some kind of money on the sale - I got a warranty that Land Rover USA wasn't real happy about when my tranmission had a catastrophic failure a few months later. But I have no way of knowing whether Yahoo made any money on the deal.

My take on it is that the real seller will make money on the deal and the real buyer will save money - it's the third parties to the transactions that will have a hard time.
