If it was not for the government trying to regulate the ISPs into being successful, then there would be tremendous incentive for SBC(ASI is a subsidiary of) to get DSL right. Today it's quite the opposite case. If SBC wasn't so shortsighted, they should have been supporting ATT's fight against forced access. Instead they took the opposite tactic and supported the ISPs who now they feel the wrath of(behind the government mandates). So IMO SBC got themselves in this problem they now face. Maybe SBC will do a 100% turnabout on the forced access issue ala Steve Case(after AOL became a MSO). They just need to realize the real enemy is cable and not the CLECs anymore. -MikeM(From Florida)

re: SBC SBC Delays Prompt DSL Suspension. No Elmatador comments! Elmarator took small fraction of SBC DSL deployment and is trying to make general statement. Just recently SBC said about some delays in SBC/Ameritech DSL deployment. On the other hand Pronto(PacBell & SouthWester Bell) are moving in Full swing. So do Verizon or South Bell DSL deployment. DO you really think elmatador that attacking fixed connection(DSL,optics) you are going to promote wireless business, where you are involved???? ZO
