Flats, on a radio talk show today the host started the show by calling the local electric company and got a recording which said that customers should expect their electric bills to be 2 to 3 times higher than usual. He said his was six times the usual bill. He interviewed the author of one of the articles below and the author said that one of the most guilty energy gougers ( I believe it was So Cal edison ) owned ( via shell companies )several telecom companies in Europe and several power plants in India and other Countries and rather than being broke could actually pay off everything. The Green party is encouraging people not to pay the rate increase and the San Francisco board of Supervisors has passed a resolution saying they approve of people not paying the rate hike. Oakland and Berkeley are talking about doing the same. Some local labor unions have already supported the boycott. Bernstein is going to devote his entire show to the issue tomorrow or thursday can't remember which.
