In those days every guy went into the military in some fashion - it was the law. Too many of our men lost their lives in that war. I could never understand the denigration many received on their return home. Shame, shame on us. Never again.

<Military cowardice when called to duty is unforgivable.....>

Those who chose not to serve in Vietnam were far from cowards. Many who chose not to serve had courage and displayed great acts of conscience. Duty comes from within; it is not imposed from without. The War was not a threat against National Security and the so-called dominoe effect that was talked about at the time was proven to be one big lie.

The call of conscience is Care. The Gov't should think twice before they subject some of their less intelligent citizens to death and permanent disabilities for.... what?

I'm well aware of the conservative argument that states that if you reap the benefits of living in this great country, then you should be prepared to serve when called upon or leave. By ripping up their draft cards and moving to Canada, that is exactly what many in the anti-war movement did. The War was immoral and it took guts to question the empty principles upon which it was based. This is why those who left were asked to come back.

PS This is a post just to GZ. For you other right wing extremists, I'm well aware of your arguments and I have no desire to debate them here. It is sort of played out after almost 30 years. But you GZ I'm surprised at.
