I am extremely familiar with the electric supply industry. The problem is that the CPUC has been screwing the utilities forever in the name of consumer benefit. They made it financially impossible for utilities to make any return on investments in power plants. So what happened? The utilites got rid of them. Now the the owners of those plants aren't regulated by the morons at the CPUC and are charging whatever they want. The problem could have been avoided if the CPUC would have allowed the California Utilities a reasonable return on their assets.

FYI consumer electric rates in CA have not risen for the last 7 years.

Those that think the California Utilities are some evil group of money hungry monopolists, are are totally clueless.

Califonia utilities are in a shitty business whose return on investment is controlled by a politically motivated group of short sighted morons, aka the CPUC.

sam_o,

I didn't know about the windmill electricity prices. Could be Edison is trying to keep down costs in the one area they can control. I do know that no one trusts anyone else in this mess.
