"personally I've used the download to Desktop method...I like it"

i have used the desktop too this way. and rather than toss the files in recycle bin (though there's no denying that that may be a fine place for them), it's also convenient to create a new folder on the desktop (right-click desktop, choose 'new', then 'folder') and just drag the downloaded files into the new folder.

this keeps things tidy and begins to give a novice user some experience with basic file management stuff (personally not one of my stronger suits).

:)

Just for any novice lurkers, one of the reasons I keep a download folder is to have a fresh copy of the download in case the particular program goes south on me. Unless there is a space problem with keeping a fresh copy, it saves the time and bother of another download.
