I've watched yesterday's put-on a couple of times now. If Gore had wanted to stop it, all he would have had to do was announce, after Alcee Hastings first objected, that no more members' objections would be allowed unless co-signed by a Senator. Instead, he allowed each one of them to state their objection, one by one, until they were objected to from the floor and he could repeat the rule.

It was a circus. Gore willingly was ringmaster. It was a disgrace.

It also showed that each of those "members" who raised objections have no more respect for the rule of law than those who they would denounce -- and have denounced -- as lawbreakers. They support nothing less than mob rule.

A disgusting show by people who have no respect, and therefore deserve none. And we pay their salaries and pensions.
