John:

<They WERE the Palomar Mountain EMS. Have a look at your link:>

Sorry for not understanding that!!

However, your quote stated... "It took the emergency services about an hour to arrive - and that was only by chance - a firecrew came down the mountain at the end of their shift and they then organised an ambulance by radio."

ONLY BY CHANCE -Firecrews that come down the mountain "when their shift is over" i.e. .. "Well Bill, Our shift is over.. What do ya say we head down and see if we can give those poor CB totin' guys some help"... Didn't sound like an Emergency Medical Service to me!

If all the poor guy had was a Broken Leg.. I can't believe that a team of "Emergency Medical Technicians" left the guy laying on the ground for three hours until a couple of guys with a "gurney" showed up to stick him in the back of an ambulance.

But, I have to say.. It was quite "humane" of yourself to stick around for the three hours.. Most people would have waited around for the EMT's, and then proceeded on their Merry way.... My hat's off to you!!
