Our new president has a labor secretary who hires illegal aliens and an interior secretary who works as a lobbyist for lead paint companies.

The Republican power structure sees these as very positive attributes in these folks, just as they see Clinton's efforts on behalf of the environment as interference with states rights/business.
It was ever thus in politics.
