It's something the IA server OEM's HAD to do, or they'd be out of the game. It's basically a catch-up move. Sun's a partner in Infiniband.

Does it level the playing field in some knowable timeframe? Will it cause Sun to lose its lead and its competitive advantage? Dunno. But you're right, I won't know about that for months. You won't either.
