MM, Talk to someone who was actuallu around prior to and during the depression and you will see how erroneous these comparisons are. You hammered me for my 500 price on csco. That was a rabbit out of the hat comment designed to provoke the discussion it did, but now i am ROTFLMAO with the Elliot wave and 1929.
History never repeats itself. There are safety nets in place today. There is the fed. There is a vibrant tech based economy in place. There are excesses of course and they are in the process of being rung out of the system but Eric's comparisons to the 1987 decline are far more to the point.
Let's assume for a second that the recession never happens, do you really believe the type of growth cisco will have justifies a pe of 10, if growth it 40% per year for the next couple of years. You may be right. Cisco might ultimately equal GM but I suspect it will end up looking more like GE. Mike
