Mary, Re: The DEC example is terrible. At the time when DEC was available DEC had had a good run, a good history, but no future. They were being considered because they came into bargain basement range. The only people that would have considered DEC were bean counters

Which is Compaq not Intel. Intel just take StrongArm and the fab. Well of course the situation was a bit different than normal as DEC was suing.
