customer interest is very often the function of price as you know. Given very low pricing on athlons (relativly) and slow demand in corp sector it is very possible that the incremental price for mustang derivatives did not justify extra cost. Mustang was also a must for commercial sector so amd was willing to loose on it in return for gaining access to commercial sector but since there signs out there that athlon is gaining in commercial sector amd might not be that willing to pay anymore.
re:Also, many non Tier 1 OEMs have introduced various models of Athlon
that was exactly the point that is tier 1 oems are offering commercial systems with athlon in them
