You raise some interesting points and I for one hope you are wrong on several points! First, if you look on SI's home page, you will see:

Welcome to Silicon Investor, the foremost destination for quality investment research, editorial and community message boards.

I believe SI remains one of the best places to learn! You said that it is "redefining itself into a wireless company," and it is, but I believe it can only become better, and more adaptable to all as we go about our daily work.

Disagree strongly that SI is "a no growth business." Do totally agree with the earlier comment that SI could become a major cog in a giant wheel of quality message boards, about any number of items! It may have to include advertising, like radio and TV and (gasp) EVEN the movies...

I would love to work for SI and INSP. Their story needs to be out in the communities throughout the country and the world. And it's not out there.....YET! (BTW, Take a look on the fool.com today...there is an article about wireless, and the numbers of people currently using it in Asia, and other places)

Look downstream...the numbers of people here on SI currently are a drop in the bucket of people who want reliable, interesting, people to help keep them informed, and educated on a daily basis.

There may be a market for RB and Y...Not for me, and most probably many others like me. Why would I want to waste my time with such drivel, and drivel delivered in a nonuser friendly format at that!

As for the pool of investors and the 'trading income' they bring to on line brokers declining....well....duh....

Since April, when the JOD decided to try to break up MSFT, the entire market has swooned, BIG TIME! The major marketmakers seem to be out on the sidelines for now. (Check out this weeks businessweek.com and forbes.com for some thoughts on that....including many, many individuals who have lost BILLIONS of dollars in this so called 'swoon'.

I think the online concept is good, but the confidence and respect of the average retail investor is down right now on any of the major financial houses. Why on earth would one want to listen to another broker-trainee, or broker tell us about another "up and coming"....only to have it fall because a few months later, the major houses tell us all, "oops.....the market is too high and too highly valued."

I've asked this before, and will again. IF the growth in the US doesn't come from TECH, WHERE WILL it come from???
