re:AMDroids who thought Mustang yields were a non-issue
that all depends, you can't say that economic conditions did not change in the last few months, can you? What might looked like a good idea 6 month ago may not be as attractive now, right?
example: intel and rambus.....
intel committed to rambus and still is while it cost investors arm and a leg - rigid business conduct may not be always wise :-))

That why amd is trying to be flexible and work with market demand rather than trying to define it :-))

Re: AMDroids who thought Mustang yields were a non-issue and that the server infrastructure was ready to go

AMD decided that there wouldn't be enough sales absent an SMP chipset - at least that's what they claim. Which is certainly true, but I would have expected them to get the the product out into the market anyway if it were really ready. OTOH, I don't know what their support costs would have been for a new line, so maybe they really did delay a product that was ready to go.

What's your take on demand for P4? Did Intel sell the million units it planned to sell in Q4? Were there some demand issues for Intel as well?

Did Intel make it halfway to its goal (did they sell .5 million P4s?)
