Republican woman have historically been far better qualified than Dems, why did you think Mondale had to pick such a poor example as Ferraro, who visibly read from cards during her "debate"? 60 years ago the GOP had better in Clare Booth Luce, who took on FDR and won. Despite being a rare beauty - Charlie Chaplin said she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen - something from an extreme Lefty and womanizer - Luce was more than the equal to the challenge. Unlike Ferraro, the Pulitzer Prize winning Luce was a political and intellectual dynamo. As for the general population, woman of lesser ability are naturally attracted to the political spoils system that Dems offer.
