And a friend of mine hired a guy to take down a tree for a few hundred dollars. Parenthetically, that's not smart for liability reasons, you should hire someone licensed and bonded. But it turned out to be a bad idea for other reasons. I was at my friend's office when he got a phone call from the tree man - he'd left the house unlocked so the tree man could use the john (!) - and the tree man was saying things that didn't make sense about he recognized the house and he remembered that he had been drugged and taken there and forced to perform sex acts and my friend's wife sure looked cute in her photos down in the den. Uh-oh! The wife was expected home any minute. So my friend decided to drive home to see what was what, and I rode shotgun - when he went to talk to the guy he left me with a cell phone and told me to dial 911 and then he didn't come back for a long time. So I decided to walk around the house and see what was what - the tree guy was just raving out his mind, he was clearly having some kind of psychotic episode. My friend waved me over and handed me a pistol he'd retrieved from his house when the guy wasn't looking and told me to dial 911. So I walked around to the front of the house and called the police. After I hung up the phone, I was standing next to the car with my hand inside the door holding the gun out of sight, while my friend tried to talk calmly to a crazy guy holding a chainsaw. I was very very glad when the cops showed up and made the guy leave.
