A great article about optical networks in this months issue of Scientific American magazine. If anyone doesn't have a backround in physics or electronics this article does a good job of explaining the basics of the optical networks. I believe Paul Rueben posted this a few days ago but very good reading nontheless!

I loved that BEA systems ceo prediction of stellar cisco earnings this quarter. That should really help the markets if he is correct. The tech earnings crunch may not reach cisco in that scenario because cisco earnings would be affected only if recession(or at least tech portion of it) deepens. It is possible that tech recession could turn out to be an inventory correction that never gets to cisco.
Bears, I am just chatting here. I dont have a clue. It is just a thought that emanates from BEA ceo and some other tech folks i listen to.
