>bezos supposedly sold 7BB of covered calls? that sounds kinda steep.

*somebody* sold 7 billion dollars worth of calls with a strike price of $100 per share, in the summer of 1999. I remember reading a few articles about it and there was a big discussion on the motley fool. basically there was only one human on earth that could have sold those calls. it was quite unusual in that it was an anonymous swiss offering.

the consensus was that it was absolutely bezos, but the banking laws made it so that there could never be a confirmation of it. in Bezos' former career, he was a hedge fund manager- people tend to forget that. if anyone knows how to hedge a bloated stock position, he does.

this is nothing new for scamazon- it's billion dollar secondary offering was done completely offshore. the biggest e-tailing company on the planet and the people who bought the bonds are to this day a mystery. in these types of cases it is often drug lords looking to launder money who are willing to take on extreme risks.
