Guess Who Said...

"I do remain confident in Linda. She'll make a fine labor secretary. From what I've read in the press accounts, she's perfectly qualified."

Since the entire post was ironic, I have no idea why you would cavil with that particular line. It is, yes, an exaggeration. In a Communist regime, personal property would be treated with respect, and public property, though subject to governmental control, would not be fair game for the individual. However, in a capitalist regime, there is, in fact, a question of how far one is bound to respect private property, and therefore the statement, while hyperbolic, is not per se false. During the Bolshevik Revolution, it was normal for the property of the affluent to be expropriated, for example. You may say that it was, at least, under the form of law, through revolutionary councils, but that is a bit of a quibble. During the Cultural Revolution, the cadres were encouraged to despoil those suspected of counter- revolutionary thought and behavior without even the pretense of due process, for example. Anyway, why should you take offense? Do you regard yourself as a Communist?

Umm, hey there Einstein. Clue for you. Communism advocates the complete abolition of private property. Have you ever read Marx?
